JRC 4-Weeks (minimum) Volunteer Program
The day to day care of our temporary and permanent residents is not possible without the help of our small army of dedicated volunteers. Animal lovers from around the world come together to ‘help us, help them’, and for an experience which is truly life changing.
Our volunteers (from 18-85 years old) are an essential part of what we do and a four week commitment can include a broad range of tasks, from doing the dishes and cleaning up after the animals (which is a constant!!), to building and remodelling enclosures, or baby-sitting a new arrival to ease the stress of their new environment.
Please keep in mind that while volunteering with us is an exciting life-changing experience no matter what your age, it is also a great responsibility. We take the care of our animals and volunteers very seriously, and lack of attention can have serious consequences. While you will love being around our animals, it is important to remember that their care and attention is your primary responsibility and focus. Their little lives are in your hands.
Volunteer training begins every Monday morning at 11:00am - (Attendance is mandatory!). On this day, you will be introduced to the other volunteers, join a tour of the Center, and get all the information you need to fully start your volunteering the next day. Please bring your confirmation of deposit, as well as copies of your negative tuberculosis test and medical insurance.
