This 2025, we are thrilled to announce our partnership with Fundación Mona for the MONATYC program! MONATYC is a professional primate training program, led by biologists, veterinarians, and other experts, that offers hands-on experience in primate rescue, health, and rehabilitation.
A key component of this training is the study of primate behavior, which plays a crucial role in improving their quality of life and identifying vulnerabilities in captivity. Observations are conducted using the Zoomonitor data collection program, a standardized tool for recording animal behavior, habitat use, and individual characteristics.
As part of this project, we will study the social relationships of our spider monkey group and assess how enrichment activities help reduce stereotypic behaviors in captivity. Ultimately, this initiative aims to enhance the well-being of these monkeys and deepen our understanding of their species through behavioral research.
